Digital Preservation Plan

Recommendations for the Digital Comic Museum

The Digital Comic Museum (DCM) is an online archive and forum that hosts user-uploaded images of public domain comics from the Golden Age era (1930s-1950s). Providing free accessibility to the most comprehensive collection of comics fitting these qualifications is the ultimate goal of the archive, which is operated by dedicated volunteers and funded exclusively through donations. The Open Archival Information System (OAIS) model was used to create a digital preservation plan for the DCM, which in turn served as an example of a completely digital community archive. The plan includes recommendations for ingest protocols, including preservation and administrative metadata, while keeping in mind the funding and staffing restrictions of the archive.
